'Nother day, 'nother dollar. I went to bed pretty early last night, and I got up at 04:30 this morning. Dammitall, I went to bed early so that I would get more rest, not so I could get up early! But once I was awake, I couldn't just lay there, I know, 'cause I tried it. Didn't work at all. O'well. I've re-discovered Floyd Cramer. I don't know if I mentioned this before or not... he did lots of stuff besides the classic, "Last Date". Lotsa elevator music, and I love elevator music. Up, down, whatever? Tonight, Karen and I came home and worked on the yard. Got a lot of sticks picked up, got the front mowed, and the sides. The back, though, is really pretty bad. Clumps of grass that I know that I didn't plant there... tough, wide-bladed, tall stuff. Tough, where it's growing out of the ground it's almost as tough as wood, made my string trimmer angry and frustrated and brought the mower to its knees, figuratively speaking, of course. I got about a quarter of the back mowed and then I vowed to come back tomorrow. We didn't work but about two hours, but Man! my back is sore! The power supply on the case that I put the baby AT 400 in died, it was only a 125 watt sucker. I put a 240 watt one in, but of course it doesn't fit and it looks funny perched on top of the case. Works, though. Yesterday,and the day before, and the day before... I forgot to change the date on the "Yesterday" link. If I ever do that again, you can tell me about it (as Carol did, or you can start off wherever it takes you and hit the "Next" and the "Last" links on each page until you get where you want to be. And while we're on the subject of archives... I've got six years worth, and when I started I thought that the best way of organizing them would be by month, with the directories each holding one month. Honestly, I didn't figger that I'd last this long, or at least maintain all of those files. So now I have a directory (or folder, if you will) from 199603 through 200204. That's 73 directories, and counting. I could actually go back and change them to years without a lot of hassle, but nobody ever goes back through them hardly ever anyhoo. One thought that I had was making a zip file for each year, that would work. A zip file could be DLed by some maniac who wanted to see what I wrote in 1996 or whatever. But I would probably feel badly that nobody ever DLed my archives... yeah, I'd rather not know some things. Another consideration is space. And the point is, that's not really a consideration any more. I've got 250 MBs on my site, and only using about 120 of that, that's everything, including a coupla thousand pictures. So why worry, why change? OK, I talked me into it... I won't change, then. The trouble with getting up early is... you get sleepy early. So, although I many more wise and astute things to say, I'm gonna wind it up and hit the sack. I have, after all, done physical work today. And I did a lot of running today at work, too.
