Gloomy day. But that's OK, it's not bad to look at from in here. For a change, I can open my shades without being blinded...
Started off with freezing rain/sleet mix, then it turned to rain, a pleasant change from the last few spells that we've had, where it turned to snow and kept getting colder.
And naturally I had to go out in it... had to get cash from the big bank that I don't like and deposit it in the little bank that I don't like.
So anyway, I'm sitting here waiting for the UPS guy, hoping that my machine will get here today. Hoping in vain, most likely.
I've been bidding on more items for the other machines that I'm building, keeping the costs down pretty good. Well, one item for me... a 19-inch monitor, used, for about half of the new price.
The problem with getting monitors on ebay, though, is the shipping. Anywhere from $40-60, and then it takes a week at least. I'm just not patient enough, I guess.
16:32...
Now I have to figger out what goes where... more of a task than I'm equal to this afternoon, I'm afraid. My original idea was that I'd run Linux on two machines, one text and one graphics; ME on two machines, the 450 (my main one now) and the 300 that the kids use; and 2000 server on the 900. But now I'm not so sure.
I've got a monitor switch so that I can have three of the machines running on the 19-incher, the other one in my room will be on a 17-incher. I'll put the old Compaq monitor in the dining room (Karen's machine), give that monitor to the kids and the other monitor to Matt.
And I'm gonna have to switch HDs around some too. ME really has to go on a clean drive, so I need to get everything off of my main C: drive. I'll probably just copy it onto the 900 after I get it set up, I'd like to figger out how to do this without losing all of my settings, but I really don't think that there's a way, but I need to research it a little more.
And it looks like that UPS guy isn't going to come today, dammit. O'well... Karen and I are going to Wichita in the morning anyway, so I really don't have time to play with it.
The axle on the Subaru is going out... it's been making noise for a while, and I really don't trust it much. We probably shouldn't be taking it to Wichita, but the little truck is the only other choice, and it's got its problems too... I still haven't replaced the clutch, and I need to do a brake job on it. It would get us there and back, but Karen refuses to ride in it.
Which is generally OK with me. It keeps her from diving it usually, unless there's an emergency!
Anyway, I'm starting to hit a wall here. I thought that I got a good nights sleep, didn't get up until after 08:00 I thought, but Karen says that I was up during the night. I sure don't remember that, but I can't think of why she'd say that if it didn't happen... So I'm gonna go take a little nap.
I might not update again until Sunday... so don't worry!
For a change, I was the high bidder on the three auctions that I entered... so I'm gonna be getting a 19-inch monitor, a 17-inch monitor and a 266 motherboard with chip for one of the other systems that I'm building. I'll probably have to order memory for the board, since it doesn't come with any.
