Is it is or is it ain't... the beginning of the millineum? I vote that is is, just for the hell of it.
According to what I've read, the problems ocurred before there was a firm concept of zero... which we have now. So, maybe NOW is the time to correct a mistake made by an ignoramus (and I mean that in the nicest way...) 1500 years or so ago?
Or do we want to say, "well, no, the old mistakes were good enough for my grandpappy, and his grandpappy before him... they're good enough for me?"
Un, and I have to apply the same reasoning about religion, also. Just for the hell of it.
OK, New Zealand started it off, with no evident problems... the new year, I mean.
OK, on to today... I got to bed after 22:00 last night... slept hard. Lacee spent the night, and she was in bed with me when I woke up, although she started the night on the couch. I vaguely remember Karen coming to bed, and the cat jumping on me... I yelled at the cat and at Karen and went back to sleep.
This looks like a pretty day again, especially for late December in Topeka. Sun shining, highs going to be in the fifties... I might get some outside work done today, like working on the back deck... or maybe not.
Karen had a headache after she woke up, but she took one of her miracle pills and seems to be getting over it. It's really great that she doesn't have to lose several days with headaches any more... that's reduced to a half-hour, generally.
Karen and I are going to start keeping track of our finances on the computer again... got the popular tracking system installed... maybe we can keep it up this time.
And I've got all of January's templates done.
My next project is to get the HD out of the Linux machine and set up JD's old HD in it, so that he can get all of his old data files off of it, and forward all of his mail. That'll probably take an hour or so... then I need to work on Tyler's box. Then I'll work on the Linux box, only with a different drive... the 8.? Gig one from Tyler's box, I think, with a new install. Then the old Linux drive will go in the old 586-133 box for another Linux system.

We watched the events in D.C. on the tube... damn, that would've been impressive to be there. Of course, being here was pretty impressive, too... and I got to kiss Karen as the year turned. JD got a hug, poor kid... he hasn't found his Karen yet, but he will, I hope, and earlier in life than I found mine. Not that I'm complaining... some time with Karen is better than no time with Karen at all!
Anyways, Happy New Year, folks, and a prosperous one!
More, of course, tomorrow... or later today, as the case may be. Is. The case is.
Kim's kids... are driving me crazy. They are wound up tight...
Yep, all the computers turned over all right... I wasn't worried about it at all. And the fireworks! People around here spent a bundle of money on fireworks... JD and Karen and I stood out on the front deck, watching until it got too cold. Lotsa lotsa noise and light in Topeka, much more than the fourth of July... or maybe just in a shorter period of time.
