Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

I did get a coupla hours more sleep last night before I went in to work, and I was almost late getting there...

And work was... work. Steady most of the night, no big rushes or anything interesting, just one patient after another.

Got some good news about the neighbor... and I don't understand it at all. It's very strange... he's doing OK.

OK, as in he'll probably get out of the hospital.

I am amazed.

He's about 76, and the stroke that he had five years ago took out quite a bit of his brain, but nothing vital. I have talked to him casually many times, and never noticed that he was having trouble either talking or ambulating.

When they put him in the ambulance the other day, they were doing external cardiac compressions for him and they'd inserted an ET tube and they were breathing for him. It's been my experience that when people come into the ED this way, they die.

And then he spent a day in the ICU on a vent... and they extubated him, and he started talking and was soon sitting up.

Did I mention that I am amazed? The guy must have the constitution of a horse or something.

I'm gonna have to get to know him better after he gets home.

Anyway... I'm tired, and my feet and legs hurt.

Have a nice life.

Thanx for being here!
