OK, this is the day and time...

Nilknarf News debutes.

As usual, if you don't like the new design, you can eat worms and die.

But...tell me first.

Everything should be self-explanatory: most of the navigation stuff is still in the upper-left, and the rings navigation is still under the current entry.

One pretty new thing: yesterday is easily accessible, and the archives are no longer going to be framed. Well, the old ones will stay framed for a while, there are too damned many of them for me to re-do without taking a coupla months to do it.

Anyhoo, the "yesterday" thing will only work if I remember to update it when I do an entry, but it will always point to some previous day. And from any previous day, it is easy to get to any other day via the index.

Don't worry, I'm sure that I'll screw up enough to where you'll get used to the system....

O'yeah, the daily pix will revert to a haphazard schedule...ie, no schedule at all. Whenever I feel like it.

And, of course, everything else may be accessed via The Main Menu. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of thing there that I had forgotten about...

Yesterday I mentioned that I was worried that I would get up at 04:00, like I did all last week. Well, I didn't.

No, I got up at 02:00.

So I worked on getting this thing done and up... and I've got quite a few errands to run today, so I'd better get moving, and quit sitting here fiddling with this site.

O'yeah... some things might not work. Be nice and let me know about it, so I can do the fixing...

12:06...
I've got way too much to do for one day, and then the sewer backs up again, big time this time.

I've spent the last hour up to my ankles in sewage... not my idea of a fun time. Not getting plumber's pay for it, either, although I'm saving a lot of $$ by not calling one.

However, not I'm weak as a kitten... that was a lot of physical exertion. Before I really got started, I decided to tear a wall down that had been really hampering getting to the place that I needed to be to get the job done, so I got out the electric chain saw and went to work on it. It took about five minutes, and I don't know why I never did it before... it made things so much easier!

I found the obstruction, in about the same place as before (probably a tree root) on really reamed it out good... I hope. Unfortunately, everything that I do that pertains to plumbing is, at the best, temporary.

Before all of this, I'd gone down to the courthouse to pay taxes and then out to Hypermart to get some stuff that they had on sale... a CD spinner that holds 144 CDs and some plastic hangers... and I picked up a copy of Turbo-tax, also on sale. Then I went to the credit union to find out how much money we'd have to start the year with... I really didn't want to know.

There are about fifteen other things that I need to do, including writing a poem for Karen. I've had it in my head for a coupla weeks, but when it came time to write it down it just didn't sound right... so I'll keep on trying.

And I need to get my printer working... I haven't had to print anything for a long time...

I also need to run a phone line for the bar, so I can hook up the new phone. And I need to... and I need to...

Fuck it, I need to take a shower and a nap.

18:39...
I'm still up, no nap today.

Somehow or another, when I unclogged the sewer, I clogged the floor drain in the basement. So I spent about an hour working on that, completely unsuccesfully. I can't figger out which way the floor drain turns to meet up with the main line, and I can't get a tape into it... it had a little back-flow-preventer-ball, which I mashed up pretty well. If I ever get it fixed, I'll have to figger out how to replace that.

So I gave up on that, took a shower and lay down, and, like everything else today, that didn't work either. Karen came home and I gave up on it.

Plans for celebrating tonight... absolutely none. For one thing, I'm worn out, and for another, it's supposed to start snowing here shortly, and snow all day tomorrow. And, for another, we didn't get invited anywhere anyway, nor did we invite anyone over... we're so socially boring.

I probably won't be up to see the new year in, but I'll light a candle for the scribe-tribers anyway, it'll probably burn past midnight.

Thanx for being here!
