This has been a pretty lazy day... I didn't get out of bed until 08:30 or so. I have been sleeping very well down here, better than I usually sleep at home, and I can't really think of any reason for that whatsoever.
For one thing, I really love my waterbed. It's the most comfortable place in the world. And, in the past, I have slept very poorly on this bed of mom's. I can't figger it out... and I'm not gonna try, I'm just happy about it.
Dan brought donuts over again this morning for breakfast again, so I didn't have the cold pizza for breakfast... I had it for lunch, while Dan and Mom had sandwiches. Love that cold pizza!
I have become addicted to Free Cell. I had not discovered it before mom showed it to me. I'm starting to keep track of the statistics... the sign of doom.
Dan has been teaching Mom MS Word, especially how to make envelopes and keep track of addresses. But the very frustrating part of using the Word address book is that it's incompatible with everything else... even outlook and schedule-plus, both MS products. And the file structure of a PAB file is also somewhat bizarre... it has necessary information both at the start and the end of the file, making it impossible to append information from another datasource.
So... if anyone out there knows of an address-book that is compatible with MS Word and will accept data from other sources, please drop me a line.
21:08...
We went out to an Applebee's for supper, and it was OK, I guess. Dan had the Bourbon Street Steak, which is usually my choice, and Mom and I had the ginger salmon, which I thought was really good but Mom didn't like at all. She said that it was too "blackened" and I admit that it was pretty spicy, but not enough to keep me from enjoying either mine or hers...
The prices here are about two dollars more than those in Topeka, though. That is pretty strange, I thought.
104F here today. Too damned hot. And it's about the same in Topeka, too. Even in the AC here I'm sweating constantly. Much of this and I would probably just melt away.
Dan is leaving around noon tomorrow to meet Lynn in OK city, then they will drive on East Thursday morning... they need to be in Raleigh by Monday, so it won't be quite as leisurely as the trip to Oklahoma. Dan told me that they had spent... five weeks? on the road so far. That's a long time to be away from home.
I will be leaving in the AM also, I just want to get back to Topeka before Karen gets off of work... I sure have missed her. And home, in general. Yeah, and the grandkids too. But I haven't really missed the cats. Charlie has given me all of the animal contact that I need. He's really a neat dog... kinda like an obedient seven-year old without hands. If he had hands he would be a lot more useful... O'well.
Tomorrow....
