Serendipity all over again!
I forgot to mention that, last week, when I injured my right arm on the trolling motor prop, that Kim, at the very same time, was getting her birth-control sticks taken out of her right arm! Quinky-dinks all over the place lately!
Then I got some email this morning from Rich of Ubiety, letting me know that something had prompted him to quit using his left/right justification. Then he read yesterday's entry on the subject.
Yes, weird things do happen. But, before you start jumping around saying things like "YES! There is a GOD! " or "There's the evidence for telepathy! We've finally discovered it!" just let me say this:
Bullshit!
That's why they call them quinky-dinks. Well, OK, that's why I call them quinky-dinks. Incidentally, I don't say quinky-dink because I can't spell coincidence. Well, OK, I did start off that way, but I have a very good spellchecker now. Quinky-dink is a pretty ridiculous-sounding phrase, and it expresses my feelings for the ridiculous reactions that people have for coincidences.
Cause and effect. Cause and effect. Shit happens. (O wait how did that get in there I wasn't even thinking that!) Quinky-dinkal cases in point:
In the meantime, six hours downstream timewise, I was just kinda thinking about things that distract me. I was actually thinking about Javina's Journal (third incarnation) when I wrote about that particular distraction.
After spending way too much web time yesterday, I thought that I'd get some real work done. So I went out and bought some sanding belts and went to work on the deck railings and benches. I got most of them done, except for the parts that need to dry out more. Today I will finish them up and apply the finish.
After Karen got home, we showered and picked up Lacee and went to visit Herman to eat supper and do some Fox-Pro stuff. I used to be a Fox+ guru (to some small extent) and I had purchased Fox-Pro for Windows about the time that I was getting away from database programming. So anyway, Herm and I worked on that a while, and I found that I had forgotten how much fun coding is in Fox. I like database stuff. However, I am completely unfamiliar with the Fox Windows interface; I like the DOS on better, at least I had worked with it for a number of years and was used to it. Anyway, we did get most of the problems solved, at least enough where Herm can proceed on his own with his project.
After that, we went over to Andy and Karlas, and got to look at the wedding pictures and showed them the ones that I had taken. Actually, the ones that I got of the actual wedding were better than the ones that the professional photographer got... but there's a really good reason why I got away from doing wedding pix professionally... a long story. Not one worthy of these pages, either.
So... more sanding, then finishing, then Karen and I and Lacee are going to Wichita. We will spend the night there, then pick up Charlie's bed and proceed on down to Enid. We will install the bed, then spend the night and leave Sunday afternoon and get back to Topeka in the evening. I will be exhausted and probably sick of Lacee. You might think that would be impossible as much as I love her, but she is a four-year-old kid and I will have spent the entire week-end with her.
So... I will update this on Sunday with an entry for both Saturday and Sunday. I will let those of you on my Reminder list know, of course, when that happens. The rest of the teeming masses will just have to check back frequently.
Now that we have that issue resolved... yes, it is indeed resolved!... on to other things...
