First, a coupla more pictures:JD & Tyler, 1980 thumb This is JD and Tyler in 1980; this is my all-time favorite of them. As usual, click on the picture to get the full-sized one.

Me, 1980 This is a picture of me the same year. I've got a lot of Polaroids from that era, I had bought a SX-70 and just went wild with it. Note on this picture: no gray in beard; no earring; somber expression denoting drunkenness.

I did get a good rest last night, as I had anticipated. I went to bed at 21:30 and got up about 05:30. I went out on the front deck to smoke, and there was a beautiful layer of fog. As I watched, it went from being a waist-high fog at the street level to a cloud lapping at the edge of the deck where I stood, rising about four feet in the space of three minutes or so. Really neat surrealistic swirling patterns as it flowed around cars and other obstructions.

That reminds me of living in Albuquerque; we could see the face of Sandia really well, and occasionally there would be a front come in from the east. For those of you not familiar with Albuquerque, the mountain rises relatively gently from the East, then drops off sheer on the west side. Anyway, the clouds would build up on the east side of the mountain, then as they hit the crest and the warmer, dryer air of the west face, they would literally pour down the mountainside. I was fascinated by this phenomena, I could watch it for hours.

I am going to try to get some stuff done today, to take my mind off of other things. I need to fix the hot tub, fill it, finish cleaning up the back deck, apply preservative to it, then clean the garage out. That should pretty well fill up the hours.

-----22:30-----

I've been so busy reading other journals that I almost forgot to finish this up. Things did not go as planned today, I didn't get much done, and I had fun anyway. Which is as it should be.

I worked for a while on the hot tub, cleaned it out & started filling it up. Then I went under the deck to work on the electrical problems. The problems defeated me, so I decided to give it up and call the guy that's worked on it for me before. The tub was about 3/4 filled... with muddy water. This happens sometimes, usually right before a water main breaks upstream somewhere. So I gave up on it. And I had gotten the deck too wet to apply the finish... so what the hell.

And the garage can wait, too.

Karen and I watched the Chief's game, and they just barely won, hanging on with four great defensive stands against the Buffalos.

And it's time for me to hit the sack. I need to push fluids until about 07:00 in the morning, then NPO after that. I'll let you know...

Thanx for being here!
